The Birdfish (AEL) and Fishbird (MDG).
If you’re the yellow bird who doesn’t know how to swim,
I’m the fish who’d rather have wings than fins.
Well, I’ve got the answer to this star-crossed lament:
Let’s share our talents as both teacher and student!
With Time and Delight we will emote and evolve
until you’re more clownfish, and I’m more seagull.
Oh, to ruffle our feathers and propel our scales passed
the vehement vultures and old hermit crabs!
A coast-to-coast kiss of the best of two worlds:
The cloud-to-cloud call to the tidal wave whirls.
Let our beaks meet! Mother Nature, hear our caw!
Let our gills breathe! Poseidon, stand in awe!
Let the Fisherman fail! Let the Hunter take heed!
We are the trophy-case pride of your God’s menagerie!
Both sea-worthy vessel and skysong-safe crane:
The Birdfish and Fishbird; We’re one and the same!
My dear yellow bird, be mine! For, I am thine!
Let us float, let us fly from the sea to the sky!
Let us sail on the currents of ocean and wind.
Let us share this whole planet: wing in wing, fin in fin.
